Easter Sunday
Easter actually went off great.
Our church didn’t do as big a service as we have sometimes in the past but it went well.
We played bells at the opening of the service and then again during the offering.
That posed an interesting problem as I was also in charge of doing the video for the service. What I ended up doing was having Kurt handle the video for the beginning of the service till after we played the second time when I was able to get back and work on the video.
Well everything looked like it was going to be great, right? Wrong.
Let’s start at the beginning…
I wasn’t able to setup the camera and equipment till about 20 min before the service.
Once I got it setup and gave Kurt a quick run-down, someone else came up and asked him is he could get a couple of 10 second clips of the service on his video camera, then just before he left, he changed that to “as much as you can get of the service” LOL!
So now we have Kurt having to deal with two cameras and this setup is all new to him.
Ok, so I run down to the bells because we are supposed to be opening the service. First off, I forgot to mic the bells, which means that the video of the bells is practically useless. Second, I see that Kurt is having problems with something, but I have no idea what until I get back up stairs and find that he ran out of tape, we had forgot to rewind it and there was like 3 min left.
We were recording on the laptop though, the problem is that when the tape runs out, the camera turns off!
Fun, well he couldn’t find another tape so he turned it back on and started it recording on the computer again, fixed? Not quite. That camera has an auto shut off after a few minutes. He looks down and finds the camera off again!
On top of all this, he is supposed to be getting video on the other camera!
Well we finish the first bell piece and we are supposed to stand up there till the offering and play another piece. This whole time, I see that Kurt is having problems and I am hoping that he has been able to get at least parts of the service. As soon as we finish I go up there and figure everything out. then I had to hit the menu button on the camera every couple of minutes throughout the service to keep it alive☺
So yeah, we did have a fun time, other than the video the service went off very smoothly. For the troubles that Kurt had, he did a fabulous job, thanks.
This is the link for the video from Sunday After a bit of editing it actually turned out ok, though I would of like it a lot better.
Well I have to get back to my work, and now you all have a update, so no complaining ☺
