Update

Well everyone, so I think that it is time for an update.

Tomorrow I will be having surgery on my shoulder to repair the damage done when it popped it out of it’s socket. Please pray for me on that.

I have made some good progress on the RC airplane that I have been working on. I am pretty sure that I am going to make a flying wing-type design. I have got the gas engine from the blower running again and did a few modifications for it, cut off some extra material, raised the compression, etc. I just got a good pusher prop 18×6, it works very nice! A LOT of thrust, we’ll see how well it works. Now the big challenge is finding the correct foam. It turns out that it is a very popular building material in colder climates but down here in So CA it is not very available…. I have found a few places that sell it but they are trying to charge me ~$60 for a 2“x24”x96“. I will need at least 2 or 3 so that price is not acceptable. If I am un-able to find it then I may have to just use a LOT softer foam and re-think my design a little and use a lot more fiberglass. We’ll see.

Now; a couple of things that I have found in the last few days:

First:

Prosthetic-limbed runner disqualified from Olympics
Oscar Pistorius, a double-amputee sprinter, has been denied a shot at the Olympics… for being too fast. The runner — who uses carbon-fiber, prosthetic feet — was reviewed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (or IAAF), a review which found the combination of man and machine to be too much for its purely human competitors. According to the IAAF report, the “mechanical advantage of the blade in relation to the healthy ankle joint of an able bodied athlete is higher than 30-percent.” Additionally, Pistorius uses 25-percent less energy than average runners due to the artificial limbs, therefore giving him an unfair advantage on the track… or so they say

Here is a recent development in carbon nanotubes
with a material that absorbs 99.9% of all light. How dark is dark?

Last, I don’t know if I have posted this in the past, but I will now.
This kind of thing just makes me soo mad! After this is America that we live in right? Land of the free….

Well that is all for now, I will update you on how things go tomorrow.

It’s good now! I was just giving her a hard time. =)

Hi Nathan~ certainly hoping to hear an update when you have an opportunity to post!

Yes, Yuriy, I didn’t know it was a video… there was no link at the time, so I thought it was a picture image. We discussed it via IM and I got the link. Thanks though. :-)
